Toy of the Week

This week our choice for toy of the week is the brand new Melissa & Doug Rotisserie and Grill Barbecue Playset.

We all love having a BBQ in the Summer so when Melissa & Doug introduced a brand new Rotisserie and Grill Barbecue Playset to its exciting range of wooden toys we knew it was going to be fantastic - and we certainly weren’t disappointed.

This sturdy little playset comes painted in a steel grey colour for a realistic BBQ look and features a black grill plate complete with orange heat lines, plus one of our favourite features - the rotatable rotisserie above the grill. On the front there are also 2 rotating heat knobs to control the cooking temperatures and a push in ignition button to ‘fire it up’.

Turn the BBQ around and you will discover a handy slot across the top in which to store the four easy to grip wooden utensils that every chef needs -a tongs, knife, spatula and basting brush.

Any BBQ would be useless without food though and the Melissa & Doug Rotisserie and Grill Barbecue playset comes with a great selection. Meat wise there’s a wooden chicken to slide onto the spit and rotate until its cooked to perfection plus a wooden sausage and chicken that can all be sliced apart and re-joined on the Velcro fastening. If you guests prefer a kebab though there’s also a shrimp and variety of vegetable pieces that all have holes ready to slide them onto the skewer.

Also included is a bottle of BBQ sauce and menu cards.

Recommended for children over 3 years the Melissa & Doug Rotisserie and Grill Barbecue is a great wooden playset to encourage imaginative play in young children while developing hand-eye co-ordination, fine motor skills and creative expression.

Pros - Deluxe wooden playset which although priced at a slightly higher price point of £39.99 is still great value for money as the playset features a huge variety of play pieces and would provide hours of fun.

Cons - Maybe should have included a wooden burger for the grill and a nice added feature could have perhaps been some slot in legs so the playset could have looked even more realistic.
