Here at Dolls and Dragons we pride ourselves on the fact that we scour high and low to find toys that are both high quality and original for our customers so we thought we’d shine a spotlight on a few of our favourite brands.

Every year we visit numerous trade shows around the country to keep up to date with whats new in the toy world as well as keep up to date with whats trending in the press and on the interest. More importantly than all those though we spend time listening to what our customers want and love so that we can search out brands that meet their needs and offer that something extra too.

We particularly love wooden and traditional toys as we believe they offer children the chance to play in a creative and imaginative way that isn’t dominated by the need for technology so many of our top brands are specialist in that area. Four of our top selling wooden toy brands are:

Le Toy Van

This award winning toy company was started in 1995 by Georges Le Van in Surrey to design high quality, traditional wooden toys with contemporary styling. They specialise in toys that encourage children to use their imagination and we particularly love their wooden farms, wooden play food and cars for their use of bright colours and attention to detail. One of our Le Toy Van best sellers is the Coffee Machine as it offers something unique and unusual for a play kitchen.

Orange Tree Toys

Established in 2000 by two sisters all Orange Tree Toys are designed at their headquarters in the Cotswold countryside. Their high quality wooden toys are both bright and stimulating as well as build to last. They specialise in wooden puzzles, shape sorters, musical instruments and push along toys particularly aimed at the younger market. One of best selling Orange Tree Toys is the wooden alphabet puzzle both for its educational and aesthetic value.

Melissa & Doug

Named after its two creators Melissa & Doug is an American company that began life in their garage! They are committed to making high quality toys for children that both inspire open minded thinking and offer countless imaginative ways to play. Brightly coloured as well as super sturdy we absolutely love their range of wooden trucks and vehicles such as the Melissa & Doug Horse Box. One of our best sellers though has to be the Melissa & Doug Farm Sounds Puzzle as the animal sounds never fail to delight small children.

Bigjigs

Established in 1985 by Peter Ireland and his wife Liz in their garden shed, Bigjigs began by selling handcrafted wooden jigsaws but have since grown and expanded to provide high quality, safe and affordable toys that always have childrens development at their heart. They specialise in wooden toy food and playsets as well as offer a large range of wooden puzzles and early years toys. One of our most popular Bigjigs toys is the traditional wooden fire engine as it provides hours of make believe fun.
