Toy of the Week
This week our award for ‘Toy of the Week’ goes to the fantastic Mega Mosaics Kit from Galt.
During the last seven weeks of national lockdown we’ve all been looking for activities to keep children amused and happy as we try (often unsuccessfully) to work from our kitchen tables or home offices. One of the best ways is to provide kids with something craft orientated to get involved in and we absolutely love the Mega Mosaics Kit from Galt.
Children have always loved ‘sticking’ craft activities and the Mega Mosaics Kit is basically a box packed full of sticking fun!
On opening the kit you will find:
20 foam sheets of over 7500 self-adhesive sticker tiles in 7 super bright colours like purple, red, yellow, and turquoise
12 cardboard picture templates of lions, turtles and flowers etc
A handy guide
The kit works on an easy ‘stick by numbers’ system so each of the 12 cardboard pictures is covered in a maze of small squares with a number from 1 to 7 printed on each one - these numbers in turn represent a certain colour so for example 1 is Blue, 2 is Yellow and 3 is Red.
To complete the pictures simply peel off the backing on the tiles and stick onto the corresponding square. As you add more and more stickers the picture slowly reveals itself and best of all there’s no glue required!
All the pictures are printed on stiff cardboard so are lovely and sturdy to work with meaning they are perfect for small hands to handle, and with a wide range of picture choices there’s something for all ages and sexes to choose from.
A perfect activity for play dates or wet play days the Mega Mosaics kit has amble enough pictures that children can either share them amongst friends or siblings to complete in one go or do by themselves over a number of days.
Recommended for children of 5 years and over the Galt Mega Mosaics Kit is a really comprehensive, high quality kit and for only £9.99 is great value for money.
Pros - Perfect for creative children the kit provides hours of sticking fun while teaching basic colour and number matching skills.
Cons - Couldn’t really find one as it kept the kids entertained for hours-only small thing perhaps could be that very young children may want help initially in working out the colour/number system.
